It is time for us to ask…
The Guilford Community Fund collected over $1,000 in spare change at the parade and Guilford Fair.
Economic circumstances have been devastating to many more of our people than ever before.
We are all trying to do more with less. Without your contribution, support services will have to be limited.
Many times I have been asked: “Where does the money go?” “How does it help?” Here’s a quick listing of where the donations are distributed. A fuller explanation is available on our member agencies page.
- Red Cross – shelter, food and assistance
- Big Brothers and Sisters – positive difference for children
- Charlie’s Closet – funds for medical equipment
- Clifford Beers Clinic – mental health services
- The Cove – support for grieving children
- Domestic Violence – victims services
- Friendly Visiting – visits for lonely residents
- ABC Program – inner city women pursuing college
- Before & After School – child care
- Guilford Center for Children – subsidizes substitute teachers
- Guilford Food Bank – food for residents in need
- Harbor Health – health services
- Literacy Volunteers – training for literacy volunteers
- Meals on Wheels – delivery of meals
- Neighbor Works – affordable housing
- Orchard House – active-living for special needs individuals
- Sarah Foundation – social/recreation for special needs individuals
- Shoreline Outdoor – interactive environmental education
- VNA – care for adults with dementia
- Women and Family Life – support of women
The all-volunteer board is working very hard to make sure that all donated funds are distributed as per your request. I believe we have all experienced the quiet joy of helping someone in need. Through the Community Fund you are able to designate where you want your support dollars to go.
