A New Season for Giving Back

Fall is almost here—a season that brings both new beginnings and time-honored traditions. The school year begins, the hay fields get their final cut, and the Guilford Community Fund begins another year of fundraising to support the organizations that make our community so special.

In June 2025, GCF awarded more than $124,000 in grants to local nonprofits, and we’d love to see that number grow! Over the next few months, look for us at the Guilford Fair Parade in September, at our electronics recycling and paper shredding event at Town Hall in October, and at other community events throughout the year.

Have you ever thought about joining us? The Guilford Community Fund is a group of dedicated volunteers who care deeply about Guilford and the organizations serving our community. We meet once a month, on the first Wednesday at the Community House—and we’d love to have you join us!

And remember, while our Annual Appeal kicks into high gear in late November, you can make a donation to GCF any time of year. Every gift helps us support the friends, neighbors, and local organizations that make Guilford such a wonderful place to live.

We hope to see you this fall!

Defibtech Donates Life Saving Device

Late last year, Defibtech’s Ben Chopra reached out to the Guilford Community Fund with a generous offer: he wanted to donate an AED to a local nonprofit. Around the same time, SARAH Tuxis Executive Director, Beth Kinnare, and her husband, Shawn, (who also serves as our Vice President), were preparing for the arrival of their grandchild and had just completed a CPR course. Through that experience, Beth gained a deeper understanding of how critical access to an AED could be for her clients and staff.

The timing couldn’t have been more perfect — and we were thrilled to make the match!

We Keep Growing

The Guilford Community Fund is pleased to announce that Matthew Mazotas was unanimously approved during our March meeting a new Board member. Matt is a CPA and the owner of Blue Horizons Tax Advisors in Guilford, where he provides tax services for individuals, corporations, and businesses. He resides in Killingworth.

If you are looking for a way to make a difference in our community, we’d love to hear from you — join us!

The Guilford Community Fund is pleased to welcome Matthew Rader as the newest member of our Board of Directors. Matthew is the owner of TECH FIX, where he provides technical computer support to local residents and businesses. A Guilford resident for the past 15 years, he is also an active volunteer with Guilford Youth Mentoring and the Guilford Rotary.

Welcome, Matt—we’re thrilled to have you join us!
